Class Descriptions
Hatha I
The foundation of traditional yoga, Hatha I focuses on structure, form, strength, balance, flexibilty, and overall body awareness. A typical hatha yoga practice consists of a sequence of asanas (physical poses) designed to exercise all parts of the body. Perfect for beginners, but suitable for experienced students wanting a more relaxed pace or who simply wish to reconnect with the fundamentals of yoga.
Hatha II
Building on the basics, Hatha II challenges the intermediate student by moving deeper into the asanas for a more intense and dynamic yogic exploration. In this class, the student experiences longer holds in a greater variety of poses.Though beginners are welcome, they will be challenged by this class.
Vinyasa
A dynamic system of practice which involves linking asanas with pranayama (expiratory breath). Through creative variations of sun salutations, this cardio intensive practice focuses on building endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration.
Gentle Yoga
This type of yoga is aimed primarily at restoration. It concentrates on gentle stretching, strengthening, hip openings and breath. This nurturing and healing class is perfect for seniors, beginners, those recovering from surgery or injury, and those with chronic pain and other health issues.
Qi Gong
Qi Gong (pronounced Chi Kung) is an ancient Oriental tradition practiced to promote self-healing and serves as the basis of Tai Chi and other martial arts. Qi Gong integrates fluid movements, self-massage, deep relaxation and unique breathing practices into an elegant system of self healing and tranquil empowerment.
